The SIEGE Comp - League Of Legends Team Gamestyles

tips & tricks

Since late 2019, we are facing a global pandemic and because of Covid-19, we adapted a new lifestyle with masks, social isolations, monthly vaccines, etc.

Every expert recommends protecting our social distance from each other so if you want to do the same thing in the Rift, there is a team composition for you.

When we discussed ‘engage’ compositions, we mentioned that they are the easiest compositions to pull off. As nothing exists without its opposite, today we will talk about arguably the hardest team compositions to execute in League of Legends: Siege.

In a word, Siege is the composition in which you try to objectives with your range advantage and disengage when the enemy tries to start a team fight.

This composition is different than the other comps as Siege compositions do not need kills or teamfights to win the game!

How can a team win a game without killing the opponent? Well, it is simple. If you can poke the enemy champions down from a safe distance without fighting them directly, you can get every objective you aim for. In addition, this composition is the best for controlling the objectives.

Siege compositions need to protect their distance from the enemy and poke them as we mentioned above. When the plan is well-executed, there is no other comp that can stand against this pressure.

At this point, I must mention the issue with this composition. It is hard!

Evenprofessional players struggle to play this composition from time to time. You need to hit almost every skill shot, wait patiently from a distance, and the most important part: when the enemy tries to engage on you, you need to disengage perfectly with your skills at the correct time. These things require too much practice; so if you want to try this comp in your games, don’t be surprised to face ‘defeat screen’ at your first games.

There are 3 key attributes if you want to play this composition.

The first one is obviously the damage from long range. As the range advantage is the key to winning games with this composition, you need to outrange your opponent. Xerath is a perfect example of this.

Second one: Tower damage. You may poke the enemy down but you also need to melt down the turrets aswell. A couple champions that provide high damage to turrets are also essential. Ziggs or Tristana can bring this damage with their ‘W’ skills.

Finally, disengage is crucial. The worst thing you can do with this composition is try to win 5v5 team fights. You need to deny fights and protect your distance whenever the enemy team tries to start a fight. Our ‘Rabble Rouser’ Gragas can help your team with ‘Body Slam’ and his ultimate ‘Explosive Cask’ to avoid fights.

A good example of a Siege composition is:

Top - Jayce
Jungle - Poppy
Mid - Anivia
Bottom - Caitlyn
Support - Lux

Let’s analyze each of these champions 1 by 1 and see what they bring to the table!

Jayce has insane poke damage with his empowered Q. Besides being a valuable pick for this comp for the damage aspect of it, he also helps the team to disengage by giving them movement speed with his E.

Poppy’s skill kit is also crucial for this team. If your opponent tries to engage, She has 3 skills to stop the engage. ‘W’ to stop dashes, ‘E’ to stun single target enemies, and ultimate to send the enemies to their base!

Anivia’s zonecontrol is almost unique in the game. When she uses her ultimate, enemies should think twice before trying to move in that area. Besides the damage she brings, she can also help Poppy with her stun and wall to disengage.

Caitlyn obviously has one of the biggest range advantages in the game. She brings solid Dps without even getting close to the enemies. Besides that, her traps make sieges much easier as the enemies will not be able to engage without getting caught.

Before mentioning what Lux will bring, I need to say Caitlyn & Lux duo lane have insane synergy.

Furthermore, Lux has huge damage from long range with her ‘Q’, ‘E’, and ultimate and if anything goes wrong, she can save you with shields.
